Microsoft Agreement

 

Saint Michael's College has a campus agreement with Microsoft making the following software available for purchase by students and employees at greatly reduced prices. 

Available for purchase through the Saint Michael's College Bookstore

  • Microsoft Office 2003 Professional:  $140

  • FrontPage 2003:                                    $60

Please note these are licenses only and do not include documentation or support.

Product Information:  Microsoft Office 2003 Pro contains the 2003 versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook. FrontPage 2003 is a web authorizing tool that can be used to create personal web pages. This software license is made available to students and employees through the Saint Michael’s College  Microsoft Campus Agreement. 

License Information:   Saint Michael's College has purchased temporary licenses for the software through the Microsoft Campus Agreement. Saint Michael's College is extending to SMC students and employees the right to use the software on your own personally-owned computer. Purchasers do not own the license or the CD’s, rather they are authorized to use the software and associated media pursuant to the terms and conditions of the license(s) granted to Saint Michael’s College for the term of the Saint Michaels' College's Campus Subscription Enrollment. Customers must read and abide by the license agreement.

Purchasing Information:  SMC Students and employees are entitled to purchase 1 license each of Office 2003 Pro and FrontPage 2003.  Purchasers must show a valid SMC ID at the time of purchase.  All purchases must be made in the College Bookstore.  No online or phone orders will be accepted.

Support:  Saint Michael’s College does NOT provide installation or technical support for software acquired under the Microsoft Campus Agreement Program.  Purchasers are not entitled to free telephone support through Microsoft. Documentation on using Microsoft Applications can be found at http://www.microsoft.com.

Refunds:  provided if software is returned unopened and with receipt.

Installation and License Information:

  1. Put the CD in CD drive and begin installation.
  2. At the prompt, enter the "product key" printed on the back of the jewel case.
  3. At first launch of the product, a dialog box appears, indicating that the user must now register.
  4. The Privacy Policy is briefly mentioned, and the screen text indicates where to go for more information.  If the Internet registration option is not chosen, additional options are listed; email, postal mail, telephone, and FAX.  User enters first name, last name, "company" (meaning the institution s/he is attending) address, phone, email, etc.
  5. A dialog box gives installation and confirmation ID #'s.  If the user is registering offline, the user is given the confirmation number over the telephone or sent via postal mail or FAX.
  6. At the next product launch, if the registration was successful, the registration screens are no longer displayed.
  7. Users are not required to provide personal information and can register anonymously.  The minimum information required for a successful registration is the Installation ID and country in which they reside.
  8. Users registering offline (without Internet access) may call Microsoft at 1-888-652-2342.
  9. If, after two installations, a registration fails, the user will be prompted to call the Microsoft Customer Service Center and explain the need to install for a third time. The Registration Wizard will allow routine changes in hardware so that users can upgrade their computer without having to re-register.
