If you have access to the internet, you can begin using your SMC email account as soon as your receive the letter from Residence Life with your Mikenet Username and password.

Go to the following url: http://smcmail.smcvt.edu

When prompted to Log On, enter "mikenet/yourmikenetusername".
You can find your username on the letter from Residence Life. Your user name will most often be your first initial and last name (ex: jsmith).
- Enter your Password: Be sure to press the tab key after entering your username to get to the password entry field. Your password is the first initial of your first name, capitalized, followed by the first initial of your last name followed by your SMC ID # (a 7 digit number) and ending with an "!". (ex. for jsmith - Js1234567!). Saint Michael's College requires passwords changes at least twice a year. Our next scheduled forced password change will be in October.
- To send a message, click on the words "Compose New" on the upper right side of the screen. When sending a message to another Mikenet user you need only enter their username in the "To:" box.
- When you're finished, "Log Off". You'll find the Log Off Icon in the outlook task window on the right. It is better to log off when you are done. You will be automatically logged off after 15 minutes of inactivity.
- If you would like to give your email address out to family and friends, it is formatted as follows: yourusername@smcvt.edu
Using your College E-Mail account will help you stay informed about campus issues; it's also the way you will receive official communications and important announcements such as Technology Service announcements. Official e-mail will be sent from the ‘Office of…’. More information see the communications policy .
Your Saint Michael's College e-mail is automatically scanned for viruses and spam.
